Ana Androsik is a Founder of Feminist Data and Research (FDR) and a globally recognized expert in gender and development. Ana believes that at the “new deal” in knowledge management, data processing and research is to analyze and evaluate it from the multiplicity of perspectives of various genders, socio-economic classes, and diverse races and ethnicities. Ana has applied her economics and evaluation technical skills for more than 20 years in multiple gender assessments; in coaching cross-cultural and cross sectoral teams; and, in empowering marginalized communities, particularly in post-conflict and fragile contexts as well as United Nations (UN) peace keeping operations. Ana’s most rewarding experience has been in transferring life and leadership skills to youth while teaching at the Department of Economics of John Jay College of Criminal Justice/City University of New York and Humber College Business School in Toronto. Ana is most proud of her World Vision’s award “Beyond the Call” for volunteering in Sierra Leone for the Ebola emergency response from 2014 to 2016, for supporting the development of response and recovery strategies and mobilizing expertise in complex qualitative and quantitative data sets during and post the emergency to ensure efficient strategic planning. Ana also served as a Principal Investigator for the research study titled An Assessment of the Performance of Savings Groups during and after Ebola Virus Disease in World Vision Program Areas. Ana has presented papers and published on Feminist Economics and Development in conferences in Canada, the USA, Africa and Europe.

Ana is an alumna of the School of International and Public Affairs of Columbia University in New York and Marketing and Communications Program of Emerson College in Boston. Ana’s PhD in Economics is in progress at the New School for Social Research in New York. Ana worked for the UN, United Nations Development Program, and United Nations Development Fund for Women from 1997 to 2009 in headquarters in New York and Geneva as well as in Central Asia and Eastern/Central Europe. From 2009 to 2017 Ana worked with World Vision and Save the Children in Toronto, Washington DC, Melbourne, Eastern Europe and the “sunny continent” of Africa (predominantly Western and Southern regions). Ana has a proven record of mobilizing multi-million dollar funding for projects and programs in gender and development, health, and socio-economic sectors internationally from Canadian, the US and European funders.

Ana was junior figure skater and is an avid dance/Zumba instructor. Ana believes in teaching fitness as a motivational and rehabilitation technique to empower young and senior women alike.  Ana’s home away from home cities are Freetown, Accra, and Dakar. Ana’s favorite location is the forest or the beach (or a combination of both). Ana’s son mentioned that if there was one word to describe his mother, it would be “daring” or “risk taker.” Ana is devoted to her family including the four legged members & especially her beloved Siberian husky Mr. Nord.
