Gender Assessment of All IDRC projects under the umbrella of Strengthening Engineering Research and Training in Africa, stream 2: Rethinking the Engineering ‘Ecosystem’: New Pilots for Building Capacity in Research and Advanced Training in Engineering

The consortium that includes Engineering College (EC) of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, Safe Water Network (SWN), US and Ghana, Engineers Without Border, USA, AECOM, US, and Feminist Data and Research – FDR Inc., Canada selected Ghana as a three year pilot to be scaled up to address the systemic problem of the lack of applied learning in engineering through feminist lens, weak networks in sharing knowledge between engineering schools and policy makers as well as lack of innovation in applied research supported through corporate sustainability initiatives on the on-going basis. Current activities of FDR include providing support in gender assessment to both KNUST consortium and all other IDRC Innovative projects and feminist knowledge production of the consortium as well as liaising with Canadian and global research partners.
